Citizens July 1 rate cuts take effect

Citizens' approved 2026 rates take effect today for new policyholders and apply to existing policyholders at renewal: average 8.8% down for homeowners multiperil, average 5.5% down for homeowners wind-only, and at least 2% down for all Citizens personal-lines policyholders. Citizens says its count is down to 336,000 policies from a 2023 peak of 1.41 million.
